VOLUNTEER FOR OUR MONTHLY CULTURA x COMMON GROUND PROJECT MARKETS
We’re looking for someone to help us out at our monthly Markets at Cultura. They are on the third Thursday of the month from February to June 2025 from 12-3pm, but we would love help from 11-3. They are community events with regenerative and culturally appropriate produce for sale, a low cost hot meal option and low cost coffee & cake. Sometimes community members from Cultura participate with a craft stall, or with live music.
Common Ground Project is a registered charity and regenerative farm, and Cultura is a registered charity and settlement agency. Both have limited funding and we are so grateful for our volunteers. In 2025, we would love someone who is able to commit to 2 or more market dates, and due to this being an agile and physical event, we do need someone who is feeling fit and capable of helping us lift and move marquees, tables, produce crates, a coffee machine on wheels and other items around for the duration of the market.
The Markets are great opportunities to understand and participate in a community partnership project between Cultura and Common Ground Project (and supported by Open Food Network), celebrate cultures and engage with the North Geelong community.
Jobs often include: setting up, helping sell vegetables or re-organise the stall, helping CALD women who have received their barista certificate with coffee making for customers (professional level of skill is not required), helping CALD women sell cake or make smoothies, assisting with serving a hot meal, talking to customers and packing up.
Often there are placement students volunteering also, so it’s great experience and exposure if you’re studying social work, youth work, food systems, community development or humanities. Or, if you’re in hospitality but looking for more community experience.
Either meet us at Common Ground Project (we can give you a coffee!) or meet us at Cultura in Norlane. A hot meal at the Market is included and sometimes veggies are available at the end.
Dates: (let us know if you can do 2 or more, no worries if not every date). 11am-3pm.
20 February, 20 March, 17 April, 15 May, 19 June, 17 July.
